Oakmont Author Combines Love of History, Family Into Book Series

Soon after, her idea was picked up by AuthorHouse Book Publishing—the “Ava, American Dreamer” series was born. The series revolves around a little girl, Ava, and her dreams, which put her center stage during different events in American History.

The first book, “George Washington,” was released last month.

Last week, Havran read “George Washington” to a large group of children during the Oakmont Carnegie Library’s Book Buddies Storytime program. Havran also is hosting a fundraiser for Wounded Warriors at the library this week. Look at the sidebar at the end of this story for more information.

She was joined by her mother, Lynn Botta, who is a Plum resident and illustrator for “Ava, American Dreamer.” Also in attendance was Ava, 3, Havran’s niece and the inspiration behind the series’ main character. Continue reading here…
